I have a 2006 Ford Explorer with the racks on the roof. We will be doing some camping this summer and recently purchased a new canoe. I am looking for the best way to tie the canoe down on the front of the Explorer. Is there anything solid in the front I can tie off on, or is it safe to tie to the bumper through the grill? Anyone have a good way to do this? Thanks in advance! If you get the canoe properly stabilized up top, then you won't have to put a hard load on the lines off the bow and stern. The roof rack is designed to carry weight. Use some good tie downs and a canoe rack or foam block to secure the canoe. just get it centered and secured on the rack properly, tie down the rear and then tie the front to the bumper or something....not that big a problem Auto parts : Banjo Fitting Acura 1995 . The first time it happened was when my boyfriend cranked it it backed fired, so when he recranked it, it started making the clicking/ticking noise. It has 207,000 miles on it. It also has water leaking into the oil. We thought it was a cracked head block, so we added K & W head block sealant two days ago and it is still making the ticking sound. Subaru . How to Install Rear Brakes on a 2002 MustangThe 2002 Ford Mustang is equipped with four-wheel disc brakes for improved stopping power. Replacement of the rear brakes can present a problem for the home mechanic due to the actuator calipers used to provide parking-brake function. This repair requires a special caliper-piston tool to collapse the caliper piston into the housing during brake pad replacement. Using this tool, the average home mechanic can complete this project in about an hour. The caliper-piston tool is available at most large auto parts stores. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Wheel chocks Floor jack Jack stands Lug wrench Metric wrench set Caliper piston tool Step by Step : 1 Position wheel chocks behind the front wheels to prevent movement of the Mustang during the repair. Place the floor jack under the passenger-side rear suspension and lift the car until the wheel is off the ground. Place a jack stand under the passenger-side of the rear axle and lower the car onto the stand. Remove the wheel, using the lug wrench, and store the wheel along with the lug nuts in a place where they will not be lost or tripped over. 2 Release the parking brake. Remove the two 13-mm caliper bolts that attach the caliper to the caliper bracket and set the caliper aside. Remove the two 15-mm rear caliper bracket bolts. Slide the rotor from the axle and have it machined at a local auto-repair shop for the best possible result from your brake job. 3 Select the caliper piston adapter that best fits the caliper piston on your Mustang. The two pins on the adapter line up with the two notches on the face of the caliper piston. This tool will spin the caliper piston while pushing it into the caliper housing. Insert the tool between the caliper housing and the caliper piston and turn the shaft of the tool with a 15-mm wrench while holding the large adjusting nut with an adjustable wrench. The piston will rotate smoothly into the housing. 4 Slide the brake rotor onto the axle, and bolt the caliper bracket into place on the axle. Tighten the two 15-mm bolts securely. Place the new brake pads into the caliper bracket and slip the caliper over them. Bolt the caliper to the caliper bracket and tighten the two 13-mm bolts securely. 5 Pump the brake pedal a few times to expand the caliper piston and apply the parking brake to adjust the actuator. Repeat this process for the driver's side of the rear brakes. Install the wheels and lower the car to the ground. Test-drive to burnish the pads. Tips & Warnings Avoid inhaling brake dust by wearing a dust mask
Subaru . How to Install Rear Speakers in a 2001 GalantThe Mitsubishi Galant comes standard with two speakers in the rear of the car, just behind the rear seats. These speakers are slightly larger than the front speakers, allowing you to listen to the radio or CDs as loud as you like. Unfortunately, listening to loud music excessively can be bad for your speakers, and most often it's the rear speakers that "blow out." Save some time and money when this happens by replacing them on your own, rather than taking the Galant to a shop. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need New 6-inch x 9-inchspeakers Philips-head screwdriver Wedge or flat-head screwdriver Step by Step : 1 Turn off the ignition of your Galant to cut power to the speakers. Otherwise you may be shocked when disconnecting them. Open the trunk and locate the bottom of each speaker on the far ceiling. Disconnect the signal and ground cable clips on both speakers. 2 Open the rear door of your Galant and climb inside with a flat head screwdriver or wedge. Use the screwdriver or wedge to carefully remove the plastic cover of both speakers and set these covers aside. 3 Unscrew the four speaker mounting screws on both speakers using a philips-head screwdriver. Save these screws as you will use them to install the new speakers. With the mounting screws removed, you may remove the speakers from their mounting holes and set them aside. 4 Set the new speakers in place in the mounting holes. Use the screws removed previously to fasten the speakers to these mounts. Replace the plastic covers by snapping them into place over the speakers. 5 Get out of your Galant and examine the speakers from inside the trunk. Attach the ground clip (the black clip) to the narrow clip tab on the bottom of each speaker. Attach the audio clip (the red clip) to the wide clip tab on each speaker. Close the trunk and turn on the car to test your new speakers. *6. When you're finished working, lower the vehicle to the ground. If you're using a tripod or scissor jack, simply turn the crank in the opposite direction. If you're using a hydraulic jack, use the rod to turn the pressure release valve. The jack will do the rest of the work for you. 2Q Part I: Getting Started. Hout to Change a Tire Even if you're a member of the AAA or CAA, there's always a chance that you'll find yourself stuck with a flat tire on a remote road with no telephone in sight. On these occasions, all traffic generally vanishes, leaving you help less unless you know how to change a tire yourself. Everyone should have a general idea of what's involved: 1. 124

Approximately how many people were killed last year in Florida in traffic crashes?
Florida's traffic crash statistics (2008-2009) are 2,563 fatalities. * 5. Put away the jacking stuff and the old tire. 6. Drive happily into the sunset. But the job gets sticky in a couple of places. Unless you're properly equipped, you can find yourself out of luck and in for a long wait for help to come along. The following sections explain in detail, and in order, how to change a tire. To make sure that you have the tools you need, read the section called "More Things to Carry in Your Car" in Chapter 2, and then stock up. If you own a luxury car with an air suspension, you need to turn the system off before jacking up your car. Vehicles with air suspensions have an on/off switch located in the trunk area. Subaru . If I drive 75 mph how many hours will it take to drive 665 miles?
665/75= 8.87 hours * Remoitinq a hubcap If you have an older car that still has hubcaps (instead of the wheel covers on more recent models), the first task in changing a tire — after you pull to the side of the road and finish banging the heel of your hand against the steering wheel in frustration — is to remove the hubcap of the injured tire. The following steps tell you how: 1. Use a screwdriver or the flat end of a lug wrench (see Figure 2-20 in Chapter 2) to pry off the hubcap. Just insert the point of the tool where the edge of the cap meets the wheel, and apply a little leverage (see Figure 1-3). The cap should pop off. You may have to do this in a couple of places; it's like prying the lid off a can of paint. . Chapter 1: Things Every Driver Should Know O 1 Figure 1-3: You can use a screwdriver to pry a hubcap loose. 2. Lay the cap on its back so that you can put the lug nuts into it to keep them from rolling away and heading for the nearest sewer. After you remove the hubcap, the next task is to loosen the lug nuts. Loosening the tug nuts Subaru . A car traveling 60 miles per hour how many feet does need to stop?
* Lug nuts are those big nuts that hold the wheel in place. Most garages retighten them with a power tool, and unless you've done the job yourself by hand, they're going to be pretty hard to loosen. (Take my advice in Chapter 2 and buy a cross-shaft lug wrench. Figure 2-20 shows what one looks like.) Before you begin, you have to ascertain whether the lug nuts on the wheel you're working on are right-hand threaded or left-hand threaded. This isn't a "left-handed hammer" joke; the threads determine which way you turn the wrench. The lug nuts on the right side of a vehicle are always right-hand threaded, but the nuts on the left side may be left-hand threaded. Look at the lug nuts on your car; in the center of the lugs you should see an R, an L, or no letter at all: I V A lug with an R or with no letter is right-threaded. Turn it counterclockwise to loosen it. Subaru . Does your car have to be tuned after installing air conditioning?
